There is an attack on for the lives of men and women today. The enemy wants to see lives destroyed. The spirit of this world wants to see lives destroyed. Its desire is distraction, deception and destruction. They are not intent on a little here and a little there. They have declared all out war.
The problem is many are falling.
Psalm 64
verse 2a ‘Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked.’
This is deception. Many are blinded to the truth today. This is not only happening to those who are completely unchurched, but to many who have been attenders for years, even decades. The Word of God has become of little effect in the lives of many. Truth has been exchanged for fact and people believe lies as if they were truth. They do not see reality but rather a distortion of it. Deception is destroying many.
verse 2b ‘…from that noisy crowd of evil doers.’
This is distraction. Everyone loves a party but the unfortunate thing is many of the parties that are being attended today are evil by nature. There is a spirit of this world that is not of God; in fact is it anti-Christ at its core. Much of the entertainment industry falls under this category but it is again packaged in a deceptive way. There is a high level of ‘if it feels good, do it’ philosophy that runs through many of the distractions that we see. This is opposite to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
There is also another level of distractions which is not necessarily evil in its intention. This is simply anything that we allow to rob us of a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ and His character being formed in our lives. Many are distracted from the call of Christ. Many are putting things off until after. Some don’t want to put in the effort. Some are simply having too much fun and don’t see the urgency. Distraction is destroying many.
