Easter: In The Silence
As a believer, Easter is a significant time where we remember the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. We think about His suffering and sacrifice, and rejoice in His resurrection. Perhaps you have been undertaking a Lent season, and purposefully including fasting, reflection, prayer, or even times of silence leading up to Easter.
Before the resurrection, Jesus died. He faced the most horrific time of suffering, betrayal and pain. And in between the cross and the resurrection, there was silence. There was darkness. Yet in the silence of Easter, there was hope. The day in between was not the final day! Nor was the silent day evidence that Jesus had not listened to and been led by the voice of God. So it is true in your life and mine.
God Spoke Before The Silence
Jesus came to earth because He was sent by His Father to seek and save the lost. The Son of God ministered powerfully under the anointing of the Holy Spirit as He daily listened to and obeyed the instructions of His Father. Jesus did not abort His purpose and divine calling as Saviour of the world because of human desire. He landed in the place of, “Not My will, but Yours be done.” This was submission to the voice and the will of His Father in heaven.
You and I are saved, set free, called, anointed, empowered, holy, righteous, blameless and victorious because Jesus was listening to and led by the voice of God! And we honour His life, death and resurrection when we live the same way too. Accepting Jesus as Saviour is essential for eternal life. There is no other way, no other name and no other god. We show submission to His Lordship when we listen to and follow God’s voice.
God Is Still On The Throne, Even In The Silence
If you are in a season of silence or hopelessness, the enemy might try to convince you that you got it wrong. The whispers in your mind may tell you that you’ve lost. This is what the enemy tried to do with Jesus. We must not buy into the lie that says if we listen to and are led by the voice of God, everything will always be fine. It is essential that in these times, we come back to the truth. The truth is that we do have challenges in life. The truth is that in this world, we will have trouble. But the truth is also that Jesus has won the victory, and as believers, our lives are marked by resurrection power!
Ephesians 1:19-20 (NIV) And his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.
God the Father raised His Son Jesus from the dead by the power of His Holy Spirit! The same power works in our lives too. Through His Son Jesus, the Father has raised us to eternal life by the power of the Holy Spirit. May His resurrection power mark today. May we hear and follow the voice of God today—even in the silence.
